Bike rentals

Looking for info on the best place to rent bikes in MB. I did find the following two sites in the forum (they were listed for chair rentals, but they have bikes, too):

http://scbeachbumz.com and

www.ver-sc.com

The best deal for our needs was offered by ver-sc.com:

4 adult bikes for $100/week. We only need 3 bikes, but it%26#39;s cheaper to get the 4, and our friends will be staying in same hotel (Sea Island), so their son will be able to use one.

Does anyone know anything about this company? Are their other rental companies we should check out?

Also, when renting bikes for the week, how does that work out when staying at a hotel...will there be a place for us to keep the bikes at the hotel? (The new Sea Island) If not, can we store them in our room?

As always, many thanks for your input!!

Are there bike paths at MB - traffic seems too heavy to ride on streets. We rented bikes at Hilton head because you can ride on the beach plus they have paths.

I was just wondering for our next trip to MB

Bike rentals

Huntington Beach State Park has many bike trails. The Atalaya castle is also located there. Enjoy!

Most hotels and condo buildings have bike racks for locking them up. Check with bike rental company to see if locks are provided or do you need to provide your own.

If bike rack isn%26#39;t provided, use common sense and find a secure spot under a light. We had two bikes stolen a few years ago. Instead of using bike rack in front of office we locked them to rail right in front of our first floor condo. Parking lot was lit up but bikes were in dark spot just a few feet out of the light.

My good mtn bike was left untouched but they took one very good BMX and a piece of junk without brakes. Cable lock had been cut. Well....they tried to cut cable but couldn%26#39;t. Found weak link where lock attached to cable. You could tell they worked at it for several minutes not fifteen feet from where I was sleeping.

Good BMX bikes are what they%26#39;re after. Rental bikes probably wouldn%26#39;t even get a second look from a theif but you never know. Several motorcycles were stolen during bike week. If they want something it%26#39;s next to impossible to stop them.

Thanks for your suggestions!

We use ver.sc.com several times a year. We have a house and it is cheaper to rent, than to buy new ones every year. The bikes at Vacation Equipment Rentals are always new and in excellent condition. They do provide a lock. We have, so far, been very happy with their service.

Not sure about the area you are staying in for places to ride, I would check with the hotel. It%26#39;s almost impossible to ride on the beach, the sand is too soft and too many people. As far as hauling them to a state park, that%26#39;s a great idea if you have a bike rack or vehicle big enough to transport them.

Lovestogo,

THanks for sharing your experience with Vacation REntals--glad to hear the bikes are in good shape--was wondering about that! ALso, great to know they provide the lock!

Thanks,
