Golf Question - Please help - leaving on Wed.!

Hi everyone,

My boyfriend and I will be in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday - it%26#39;s our first time and we can%26#39;t wait! He likes to golf so I wondered if anyone can recommend a nice golf course - we are staying at the Breakers Resort and won%26#39;t have a car so one that%26#39;s in walking distance or a short cab ride away would be great.

Also - what does it usually cost to rent clubs and should we reserve a tee time? I%26#39;ve never been golfing (but told him I%26#39;d be willing to try it once!) so I%26#39;m pretty clueless. Is it okay to just wear regular clothes and tennis shoes? We don%26#39;t have any real golf attire so a laid-back place would be better. Thanks for you help!

I don%26#39;t know about any real golf courses. But I will tell you that since it%26#39;s just you and your boyfriend, you may want to try the many mini golf places in the area of the Breakers. That%26#39;s always fun for couples and they have so many to choose from.

For rookies when it comes to golf, it can get a little expensive trying to reserve tee times, clubs, shoes, etc. when you don%26#39;t have the necessary equipment.

From what my husband tells me who has operated a course in MD said that it all depends on the golf course regarding the shoes. He said most of the nicer ones that are known for the grounds will require that you wear golf shoes or that you can%26#39;t just wear any type of shoe. A tennis shoe may be ok, you will have to call ahead.

Thanks for the advice - we love mini-golf but I did want to try ';real'; golf - I%26#39;ll try calling a few places to see if it%26#39;s even worth it.

Pine Lakes, Myrtlewood, and Whispering Pines might be your closest. Get their phone #s from www.otgmag.com and compare rates.

Thanks!

Tony%26#39;s got all the bases covered...you might find playing at Pine Lakes as a bit of a history lesson...its the oldest course here at the beach..the one that started it all..and its where Sports Illustrated got its start...plus it has a bit of Scottish flair with the guys in Kilts.

Club rental if at the course will run right around $35...I%26#39;d stop by Martins Golf (29th Ave N and the Bypass) and get them for about 1/2 that (plus a better selection!). This time of year I really dont see the need to book a tee time...and by doing that you might also same on the green fee...the Breakers has a wonderful golf desk, so just check with them when you arrive, and they will be happy to set up everything for you. All the courses that Tony lists are really laid back...

Have a great time! The weather is looking good for the rest of the week! HOT!

:)

Thanks for your help! I%26#39;m so excited - less than 24 hours now!!!

And I think the weather is going to be in your favor! By the weekend 92 and sunny!

Have a wonderful time! There is a boat show up at the marina at Barefoot Resort (across from Barefoot Landing) they have live music Friday and Satuday night, it ought to be a good time...and no cover!

:)
