Ocean creek

We%26#39;re staying at the Ocean Creek Resort Lodge Villas -C - Lodge Villa Two Bedroom. I%26#39;ve read on this forum that some of the rooms are better than others. Does anyone know if this is a good one or a bad one.... Thanks so much for your input...

HI SUE, Dan,

We stay at the Towers at Ocean Creek ... last year my parents stayed in the Lodges.. It was a re-furbished unit..it was absolutely beautiful..

My sister stayed in a lodge also..her unit could have used updating,

especially the carpeting...

We have stayed in several of the units in the towers.. all were different.. all were private owners.. so.. they were extremely clean.. and very well taken care of..

My sister.. rented thru ocean creek....

My parents and I rented thru vrbo.. hope this helps..

I do not know about your particular unit you mention tho..

Ocean creek

thanks for your post. We%26#39;re looking forward to our trip, will arrive on the 20th of June. :)

There are four different Lodge buildings at Ocean Creek - I, II, III and IV. If you are renting directly from Ocean Creek, they can not tell you which building or unit you will be in until you check in. So there is no real way to tell how good or bad the particular unit you will be in is going to be. It is true that the units do vary in condition as each unit is owned by private individuals.

What I can tell you is that Lodge I and II are closer to the beach than III or IV. But the tram runs back and forth to the Beach all day long in the summer time - so if you%26#39;re in III or IV the tram is great to jump on and ride to the Beach. Each Lodge building has its own pool - Lodge II has the indoor pool. The restaurant is located in Lodge I. In general, the Lodges are a great place to stay. They are half the price of the Towers and every bit as enjoyable. If you are lucky, the owners will have a locker down at the Beach Club that you can use during your stay - that way you wont have to carry your beach stuff back and forth from the room to the beach everyday. But if you have to have an Ocean View - you better head to the Towers.

As we have been going to OC for about 15 years, I can also tell you that there are few properties on the Grand Strand like OC. ie: large properties directly on the beach. Staying at OC provides a whole different perspective to MB than just about any where else - it is very quiet and relaxing. Most accommodations in MB or NMB are a tower or hotel on the beach with a parking garage or parking lot as the landscaping. And Ocean Drive with all its traffic is just outside your room. Since OC is a 55 acre property and has a security check point there is no traffic zooming past your room. The grounds at OC are very nicely landscaped and well maintained.

There is a similar property just south of OC - its Kingston Plantation. Its about 150 acre property on the beach. Like OC it has controlled access, so no public road goes past your room. But since KP is 150 acres and has 6 +/- towers, its puts alot of people on the beach. The beach at OC has people on the beach - but with the camp ground to the north and a single family residential neighborhood to the south (Briarcliffe Acres) there is plenty of room to spread out.

If you want the Beach and alot of action - you should stay someplace on Ocean Drive in MB. If you want the Beach and a relaxing and safe location for yourself and the kids - you%26#39;ll be happy with the OC Lodges.

Ditto to the above about OC. We have stayed there twice - both units could have used a little updating, but...were clean and had everything we needed and then some. We like the lodges for a couple of reasons:

1. You can%26#39;t beat the price!

2. They are extremely quiet

3. The pools in the lodges are quiet and a great break from salt water and sun

4. The tram is great if you%26#39;re tired, but we like the walk thru the grounds - nicely shaded and very pleasant

5. Convenient to walk over the Barefoot Landing at night for dinner and whatever else we do

6. The beach location is terrific - especially if you like to walk or run - lots of room to spread out

7. Maybe it%26#39;s my imagination - but the gated entrance gives a sense of safety

8. I HATE highrises and waiting for elevators

Have a great stay. I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll be disappointed.
