Southwind on the Ocean

Has anyone heard about this one or have stayed here at the Southwind on the Ocean at 5310 North Ocean Blvd. MB? Are the rooms as good as they look online and is the staff nice. How is the location?

I was just flipping through the Stay%26amp;Play and this one just popped out. It%26#39;s fairly new 2004. The website doesn%26#39;t have many pictures that I can see for myself, however the photos of the rooms are amazing. You have to call for rates, meaning they are probably expensive and I couldn%26#39;t pay for that.

They have stainless stell appliances and washer and dryers in the rooms. And every room the bedroom is separate from the living area, I think they are all condos.

Southwind on the Ocean

Southwind is actually the sister property to Sea Island Inn. Most of the units here are individually owned and on a lease back program thru the resort...you can find a number of these units also on www.vrbo.com. And depending on the time of year you are looking at, some at a really good price! The place is really well kept, and like you said, only a few years old...and still located in one of the nicest beach areas here in MB (IMO of course). They are all condos with really nice balconies!

Toured this facility last year when we were looking to change accomodations for this year. We were very impressed with the rooms, and yes, they are as nice as the on-line pictures. Great location as well. Would recommend.

Thanks,

I think I may choose this one. Does anyone know how far it is from Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, Pavilion, Family Kingdom, etc. We stayed at the Breakers last year and loved the area. Not too far of a drive to those places. What about the restaurants in this area?

Thanks for the help.

'; Does anyone know how far it is from Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, Pavilion, Family Kingdom, etc. ';

Southwind is probably less than 5 miles from Broadway at the Beach and the Pavilion areas....maybe 8 miles to Barefoot Landing and just about that to Family Kingdom. Its really an easy drive to get to all of those attractions, or you do have the option of the local bus service which picks up right at the front of the hotel.

'; What about the restaurants in this area?';

You have a number of dining options in this area...you may want to check out the recent posting of ';bistro area'; on this forum...anything from fast food, to Greek, Italian, Seafood, Chinese, Mexican, Steak...you name it!

I think you%26#39;ll really enjoy the realxed feeling in this area of the beach....close enough to things, but far enough away to really relax!

:)

Well, I tried making reservations and they only had a 5-bedroom condo available we didn%26#39;t need that much space.

So we went with the Breakers Paradise 2 BR Oceanfront Superior. It%26#39;s beautiful and in a great location. And I like the pool area for the kids.

Thanks for the comments on the area and the accommodations of Southwind. Maybe I will try them next year and book early.
