where to stay and what to do??

My husband and I have decided to come to Charleston for a week in September. We are bringing our dog. We need somewhere that is dog friendly and preferably on the ocean. Any suggestions on how to find the best property on the beach (and which beach). Also, what are some things we could do to keep us busy. We like golfing, love the ocean, eating, etc...

I would suggest the Isle of Palms, there are many condos and homes available to rent and some are sure to be dog friendly. The beaches on IOP are very nice, there are several very good restaurants on the island and also on Sullivan%26#39;s Island (the next island over, 5 min by car). Of course downtown Charleston offers tons of great restaurants, historical tours, aquarium, great museum, art museums and art galleries, IMAX theater, etc. Lots and lots to keep you busy. Downtown is about a 20 min drive from IOP. In Mt. Pleasant (the area between IOP and downtown) there are also many good restaurants, and a mall about 10 min from IOP that has good shopping and a movie theater with 16 screens. Some beaches require that dogs be leashed and some do not allow dogs on the beach at all during certain times of day. Not sure of the rules for IOP.

Hope this is helpful to you.
