Buying Shrimp from the Boat

Several years ago when I was in the area we bought shrimp right off the boat in the Little River area. Can you still do that? Any advice on when and where to go?

Buying Shrimp from the Boat

I can only say %26#39;probably%26#39;, but don%26#39;t know specifics on this. There are really good, fresh seafood markets in Little River and Cherry Grove. Long%26#39;s Seafood %26amp; Grill in Little River, and Eugene Platt%26#39;s in Cherry Grove have fresh local shrimp (and other great local seafood) in their markets. We always get the steamers (clams) and nice piece of grouper to throw on the grill.

Up in the Calabash area (just north of Little River) is a place that you can buy right off the boat...or if you head down to Georgetown to Independent Seafood, this is buying all kinds of stuff, not just shrimp, right off the boat....a great little market to get local shrimp from is Sessions just off 10th Ave N and Grissomin MB, or try the new seafood market at Phillips at 29th Ave N and the Bypass....all the shrimp there is local, as well as some of the fish.

:)

id like to know where to go to buy shrimp off the boat and how much would it cost per lb.

if you have info please email me at skeet8718@hotmail.com

Right now I%26#39;d head to Georgetown (about 20 miles south of MB) to Independant Seafood ...right there at the dock. The going prices for Shrimp as of 6/12 is:

Heads Off

Medium $4.49 lb.

Large $ 6.99 lb

Heads on

Large $4.39 lb

Medium $2.49 lb.
