Beachwalker Park, about 35 - 40 minutes from downtown, at Kiawah Island, would be a particularly good beach to visit with your baby ... firm, wide sand beach; extremely clean; lush natural surroundings, nice bathrooms and snackbar; vigilant life guards; warm water, shallow slope, and gentle surf.
A carriage ride and a Spiritline harbor cruise would be soothing for your son as well as interesting and pleasant for you.
The South Carolina Aquarium will probably fascinate all of you - including baby - and will give you a chance to come in out of the July heat.
