Directions to N. Myrtle from Cleveland, Ohio

We%26#39;re leaving for N. Myrtle Beach on 6/24 and need quick and easy directions. We%26#39;ve been there many times but we always take the same route and it usuallly takes us 14 hrs. Someone told me they made the trip in 12. Does anyone have a good route to follow? Thanks.

Directions to N. Myrtle from Cleveland, Ohio

when i come down from ohio i take

I-77 south to US 52 and I-74 to winston salem

then i get on I-40 east to US220 south (also future I-73 I-74)

then i take that to rockingham where i take US 1 south to SC 9 east into Bennettsville where i catch SC38 south to Marion and get on 501 to the Beach! I like this way because it can make good time and it can be a nice scenic view of south carolina

also off of US 501 i would take the Bypass that goes into N Myrtle as it will save you some more time also

I would go by d84martins directions with the exception of staying on Rt 9 to Rt 31 go south and depending on where you are staying, you have a number of exits off Rt 31...one at Rt 22 (exits there at Tanger Oulets/Colonial Mall) one at Grisson Pkwy (middle of Myrtle Beach), Rt 501 (exits prior to Rt 17), and Rt 544 (for Garden City/Surfside areas).

Rt 501 can be a traffic nightmare depending on the time of day that you come into the beach. And then add if there is any type of weather, or accidents...just adds to the wait.

Have a safe trip!

:)

I will have to try that sometime myself! thanks! lol! I agree that US 501 from like conway until the beach can be a pain and really a pain near the outlets stores

and if its a nasty day at the beach, a number of folks will be out there at those stores shopping! Yikes! Yep, it can get crazy!

:)

Is there any other way to get into N. Myrtle (staying at the Avista) other than 501. That%26#39;s the way we usually come in and its ALWAYS crazy, no matter what time of day.

You can go the above posted way (Rt 9 to Rt 31 south) then at the Rt 22 Exit, take that towards the beach (east) this will put you on Rt 17...head north to NMB and that will take you right to Avista. No Rt 501 at all!

:)

Scroll up or down a thread or two and you%26#39;ll see a post for directions from Pittsburgh. There are a couple of suggestions for routes once you get into NC. You just have to decide which is right for you.

We stay at Peppertree Ocean Club which is about a mile north of Avista. Approx. 500 miles from our driveway to Ocean Club using the I 77-Rt 34- I 20 route. 472 using the shortest MapQuest route.

With bare minimum rest stops and a stop and go gas stop we have made the trip in 8 hours. A more leisurely pace with several breaks and a sit down meal, it%26#39;s 9-91/2 hours.

However you decide to go. To miss traffic on Rt 501. Run Rt 501 into Aynor. Pick up Rt 22. Just before Rt 17 you%26#39;ll see exit for Rt 31. Take Rt 31 north to Little River. Rt 9 to Sea Mountain Highway (Cherry Grove).

Sea Mountain to the last stoplight. That%26#39;s Ocean Blvd. Turn right. Mile to the south Avista is on your left.
