4:00 traffic on the strip?

We will be coming into MB probably around 4 or 5 in the afternoon on a Thursday, July 6. We are staying on the south end of strip, and will probably be coming in on 501. Anyone have any suggestions as to the best route and/or alternate to take to avoid traffic? Will traffic even be an issue at that time of day / week?

4:00 traffic on the strip?

Traffic will be ridiculous. We always make the turn off on 3rd Street South (first stoplight past the Grissom Expwy). Depending on how far down the strip you are, you may want to hit the bypass and then head toward the beach when you get near the airport.

4:00 traffic on the strip?

WV - we are right between 11th and 10th ave. on S. Ocean Blvd. - when you say bypass, do you mean rt. 17?

Take 501 to 544 and 544 will run you into Garden city then take a left at 17 then go about a mile or 2 then the strip is on you right.

The best thing to do instead of turning on the strip is to go on down 17 until you get to the avn closet to your hotel.

.What is the address of the hotel you are staying at?

cbr - staying at Polynesian Beach and Golf Resort, 1001 S. Ocean Blvd. - do you know anything about this hotel? Heard bad things so far. Is 17 the same as Kings Hwy.? I was thinking of doing what you suggested. We used to come in that way when we stayed in Surfside a few years ago, and it did seem alot less congested.

-Yes 17 is the same as King Hwy.

-No I anit never stayed there but I had family that has and they said never again.

-I believe that 544 will be your best bet

cbr - Thanks! Wish me luck!

I have to disagree with the advice to take 544. We travel to Surfside several times a year and must travel 544. It can back up as bad as 501 and it is more than 1 -2 miles up to MB. More like 7-8 miles. I think it would be way out of the way to go this way.

I just looked up hthe address of this hotel and it is some what in the middle of both ways. This is just a hit and mis deal.

I did not say 544 was 1 or 2 miles by the way I said after you take a left on Kings Hwy then it is about 1-2 mile to ocean Blvd. Sorry for the confusion.

Traffic will definately be pretty heavy at that time especially on Ocean Blvd. I would suggest following 501 straight into MB and make a right onto Business 17 (you will see the Pavilion across the street), Take Bus. 17 about a mile and a half and make a left at the light at 3rd Ave S. At the stop sign make a right onto Ocean Blvd and the Polynesian will be 7 blocks on your left. Hane a great vacation!

anybobmb - Isn%26#39;t 501 bumper to bumper all the way to 17?

lovestogo - My family used to stay near Surfside also! We%26#39;d go every summer, and we also had to take 544. It wasn%26#39;t too bad then, but that was also 8 years ago! Is it really that bad now?

cbr - Isn%26#39;t it basically like a 5 minute drive on 17 from 544 to the strip?
