help for a cheap place to stay

hello :) ive been reading this board for the last week getting excited for my weekend in myrtle beach (july 7th). i just had a quick question...

im just coming down with my boyfriend and we arent looking to spend much money on accomodations, since we dont plan to be in our rooms except to shower and sleep. i found this place called ';happy holiday motel'; that if you book through a hostel site, its only 60/night on the weekends and 35 on sunday so we figured we would check out on monday to be able to shower before we left sunday evening. im thinking.. this is really cheap, sure! but its just a typical party cheap place for people to stay who are going for the same reasons as we are... but then i start to read reviews, and they are all horrible. there was nothing good said about the place. im not that picky, but these reviews were just so fat out there i cannot believe this place hasn%26#39;t been shut down!

so, my question is... are there little ma and pa places that on the way in we could probably catch for the weekend for under 100/night? as some of the bigger chain places aren%26#39;t much above that... basically were just looking for the cheapest place to stay! lol. that a way we can put more money into the rest of your economy!

thanks so much for any help, and sorry for this long runon blurb. im just excited!

This website advertises more of the %26#39;chain%26#39; restaurants, but seems to have some very reasonable rates. Locals will have to direct you to the %26#39;mom and pops%26#39;.

You might want to check out the Midtown Motor Inn (www.midtownmotorinn.com) I think their rates around that time are right in that range, maybe just a few $$ more, but you are right across the street from the Pavilion, 1 block from the beach, and the place isnt bad....they also own the Chip Inn, which is just off 3rd Ave S, not too far from the Family Kingdom, another amusement park...this is also in the area that most of the housing is for our international student population that comes and works the beach in the summer, so its a real diverse area....try Bodo%26#39;s German Restaurant if you stay at Midtown...decent food, great drinks and a unique atmosphere....plus just up the street from Midtown is an area known as Five Points...a few good places to eat here...try Soul Food Express, or Tokoyo Express...both good food, eat in or take out...and one of my favs in that area Sun City...a real unique place, great Tex-Mex.

:)

great! thanks so much! chip inn it is!

ill check out those places to eat too, but i really wanted a cheap place so i can use the extra money to treat him to drunken jack%26#39;s! haha, i know that might seem funny... but i guess i just have different priorities than some! he%26#39;s in the marines stationed in jacksonville and his idea of a steak dinner is at the texas roadhouse.. not that there is anything wrong with that!!! well, haha.. but he%26#39;s going to be in for a treat!

thanks so much!!

by the way, i checked out that other page too... the second reply was just exactly what i was looking for!
