Sand Anchors??

I have been reading all the input on this sight! This is wonderful!! But what are Sand anchors?? I booked our stay at the Hampton Inn Oceanfront, with the help from this sight. I wanted to know what are sand anchors?? Where would we find them?? What else will we need for trip like this? I am planning on taking the girls to the Aquarium. What else would you recomend for a 6 and 2 year old? Where from the Hampton could we go for cocktail while the girls played in the sand??? We will be there the end of August. Thanks for the help.

Sand Anchors??

Sand anchors can be a few things....mostly on this site when you see sand anchors they are talking about the little plasitc tip that fits on the base of the beach umbrellas...this piece then is screwed down into the sand and is suppose to hold the umbrella better in the wind. With the experience I have had....I still opt to ask the lifeguard to ';borrow'; his pole planter (the tool they use to put up umbrellas) and really sink the pole into the sand....if you get the pole at least 8 to 12 inches into the sand you shouldnt have a problem. The other type of sand anchors are the ones that the Hobies (beach catamarans) are tied to (or suppose to be tied to) along the beach. This keeps the boats from flipping during high wind, or being washed out to sea during an extreme high tide.

Bring plenty of sunscreen...and your sense of adventure..thats about all you%26#39;ll need! The kids will love the aquarium...you might think about the Childrens Museum, some of the kids programs at Huntington Beach State park and at Brookgreen Gardens...of course the Pavilion (and especially being the last year!)...I%26#39;m sure you will get a ton of suggestions!

Not real familiar with any beach bars close to the Hampton, but I%26#39;m sure one of the hotels near there would have something...a few places that you could go to and the kids could still be kids and enjoy running around would be Bummz Beach Cafe...right there on the beach at 20th Ave N and Ocean Blvd. They have live music outside...its like your in someones back yard that faces the beach...or for the evening, try Hot Fish Club in Murrells Inlet...the outdoor Gazebo usually has live music, and they have a tire swing and its a great inlet view!

Have a wonderful time!
