Calabash Seafood

I have heard the some of the best seafood can be found driving down to calabash. Does anyone have some recomindations for a family..(ie kids) restraunt

I would head down to Murrells Inlet...many great restaurants there. Check out the the first post under the sticky titled ';A locals restaurant recom. for any type of food!'; for many suggestions! Enjoy!

When you get to Calabash, go to a place call Dockside. Great food, large portions, fair price.

We go there ever year and have never been disappointed.

You can take your kids out on the docks to see the boats while you are waiting for you name to be called.

TIP:

Go early to avoid the long wait.

Calabash is the place that became famous for their fresh, uniquely prepared seafood. The term ';Calabash seafood'; has come to be unfairly applied to any restaurant that uses a deepfryer, but your best chance of experiencing TRUE Calabash-style seafood is in the place where it all began.

For specific restaurant suggestions, go to the Calabash forum. It seems the locals all have their favorites; Ella%26#39;s %26amp; the Seafood Hut are both pretty popular.

PS: I have nothing against the restaurants in Murrell%26#39;s Inlet, some are quite good, but I can%26#39;t imagine talking someone out of going to Calabash for dinner. In most cases your seafood will be fresher, better prepared %26amp; (as an added bonus) less expensive than almost anywhere else. (Just my humble opinion, of course).

Thanks Eagleclaws....I couldnt think for the life of me the name Docksides...I know whenever I am up that way thats where we%26#39;ll stop in...great place! I usually stop there after I have been by to see the crew at the Hurricane Fleet! That would be a great thing to do prior to dinner is head out on one of the Adventure Cruises there, and then do dinner at Docksides after. Ellas%26#39; is good too....havent had the opportunity to eat at the Seafood Hut...

Dockside is wonderful!!

MBC...you have to check out Seafood Hut next time you are down that way...it is great! Very cheap and you get more food that you will ever be able to eat!
